In light of the government’s announcement yesterday about physical distancing, the Barge is closing all public gatherings with immediate effect. Now that we are unable to meet together physically for the foreseeable future, it is more important than ever that we come together in other ways. The restriction is on physical contact, but in the days and weeks ahead we need to be more socially connected than ever, using technology, for our spiritual, social and psychological wellbeing.
We will keep meeting together for Sunday services online at 11.00 on Sundays, for Growth Groups through conference calling, and a new Facebook group for Barge Sunday church goes live today. It’s called ‘Barge Online Church Community‘. Please do sign up today, even if you don’t normally use Facebook. It’s a place where we can hang out online, enjoy fellowship, keep in touch, share encouragements, practical needs and prayer requests, and I’ll be posting a message every day with a Bible verse and some reflections. Do let others know in Sunday church who may not get these Barge emails – but please note that it is a closed group just for current Sunday church Bargees, not for former Bargees or people from other churches.
There’s lots more that could (and will) be said, but this is just a brief message for now about the way forward. If you have any questions or concerns at all related to any of this that you want to talk with me about it, please don’t hesitate to contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07727-713744. ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’ (Psalm 46:1).
SUNDAY SERVICE ONLINE at 11.00am: for as long as we are not able to meet physically for church, the Sunday service will be pre-recorded and streamed at 11.00am on the Barge YouTube account which you can find here. Do click on this link now and subscribe to the channel. Then you will get notification of any videos and services as they are uploaded.
