1 Peter 1:3 Many during the pandemic have felt an increasing sense of hopelessness. But even before then there has been a growing crisis of hope in society, with people no longer believing in a better world for their children – because of tribalism and division, climate change, the rise of religious extremism. Where can we find hope? To have hope for the future we need to turn to the past – to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, through which we are born again to a living hope.
1Peter 1:13-2:3 When we know who we are in Christ, where we’ve come from and where we’re going it changes everything! How?
1Peter 1:1-12 In a world of insecurity and identity confusion, how can we know we are loved, safe and secure? How can we have hope? The answer lies in the identity God gives us in Christ.
1 Peter 4:7-11 Church life is not supposed to be a crowd of spectators needing exercise watching a few exhausted professional players in need of a rest. It should be about all God’s people on the pitch, loving and serving one another, before a watching world.
1 Peter 2:1-10 When a person believes the gospel they are spiritually united not just with Christ but with this people. That is a wonderful privilege, but it brings with it a corporate challenge. To be Christian is not just about me and God – it is to belong to a church where Christians grasp hold of one another in responsibility and love.
1 Peter 2:13-25 Remaining faithful to Christ can often be costly in an increasingly intolerant society. But it is the path that all true believers are called to walk. Peter asks us to look back to the example of Christ at the cross to be empowered to follow in his steps as we carry on doing good despite the cost.
1 Peter 2:4-12 If we’re Christian, we will at some point face rejection for being a Christian. In this sermon we’ll see that God encourages us and give us strength to face this rejection by reminding us that the ‘names’ we get called for being Christian are nothing compared to the true ‘names’ we get called by Him.
1 Peter 1:13-25 What are the marks of an obedient child? Hope and Holiness. A mindful hope that is certain and fixed on Christ’s return. And a Holy life that is transformed, avoids sin, fears God and is dictated by love.
