Ezekiel 37:1-14 The Wharf is a vibrant, bustling, thriving global financial centre with some 120,000 workers. But spiritually speaking, it’s a valley of dry bones. What hope is there? The vision which God gave the prophet Ezekiel is one of the most powerful passages in the Bible. It tells us how to turn dry bones into living people, spiritually speaking.
Ezekiel 37:1-14 Faced with death, whether spiritual or physical, we are helpless. But God is in the resurrection business. He brings new life through his Word and Spirit. And so proclamation and prayer should be our focus in a frantic world.
Colossians 1:24-2:5 This is all about ‘proclaiming the gospel’. In v23 and again in v25 we learn it was because of Christ Jesus and his gospel that Paul does what he does. There is power in the gospel, and the mystery is revealed that the gospel is available to all! God is the one who reveals mysteries and truth, and God has revealed his plan for salvation to the Gentiles – through Jesus, we can be his children. And this message is spread when those who hear the gospel, tell others the gospel.
When we consider our own lives, whether we’re working, studying, staying at home, retired, unemployed, we are servants of Jesus Christ – are we proclaiming the gospel?
Matthew 28:18-20 The purpose of the RNLI is to save lives at sea. The purpose of the church is also to save lives – not from drowning but from eternal judgment. As church our core business is the salvation of people through the proclamation of the gospel.
