Daniel 3:19-30If it hasn’t happened to us already then it’s very likely to be just a matter of time before we experience painful, seemingly pointless, tragedy. When this happens the question: “Where is God when life hurts?” becomes not just a philosophical question but a real and practical one. Listen in as we consider what anchors we need to put in place before the storm hits.
Genesis 1:1-27 Sitting next to a stranger on the train, you can only know him if he speaks and reveals himself to you. So with God. He has revealed himself clearly in his Word. Genesis chapter 1 is our first encounter.
2 John If a junior needs negative feedback, it can feel kinder to just leave it. No-one likes to hear they’re failing, right? But if it were the other way round, wouldn’t you want to know so you could change? How can we speak with both truth and love? Shouldn’t Christians be a bit more malleable with some biblical truth, so they can be that bit more loving?
Genesis 1:1-2 Many in our culture assume that science has now disproved God, and the Genesis creation account is just a myth. But the scientific evidence says otherwise. The Creator has left his fingerprints all over creation.
Friendship In a recent survey, 42% of people said they did not have a single friend at work. Too much proximity, but too little depth in a world of hot-desks and headphones. We prize friendship, but what does God say about it? How can we resolve this year to build real, deep friendships – with others and ultimately with Him?
Colossians 3 : 1-17 Many in the world are facing something of a modern identity crisis. Who am I and what makes me me? The Bible offers the solution – giving security, hope and status in Christ which in turn leads to a radical transformation in lifestyle.
Acts 16:6-40 Sometimes people who aren’t Christian say ‘I’m not the churchy type’. But actually there is no churchy type. In Acts we see Jesus pursuing unlikely people and then uniting them together as one family – as he is still doing the same today.
Gal 4:4-7 ‘Please can I have a present Santa, I’ve been really good this year’- gifts from Santa are more like our wages for our behaviour. That’s how it works with St Nic; is it just the same with God?
Matt 1:18-25 Many today think that believing in the virgin birth is much like believing in Santa’s elves. Listen in to this Christmas carol service talk as we see why we should believe it and why God would bother with a virgin birth in the first place.
Matthew 2:1-18 If you went to celebrate with a family the birth of their child, you’d probably give a baby beanie or cuddly toy or unicorn onesie. The wise men give Jesus gold, frankincense and myrrh. But these gifts, though perhaps odd to us, take us to the heart of why Christmas is special.
